Midlothian Classic Wheels
HELLO  CLASSIC   WHEELERS !! : I was sitting here thinking – WOW am I glad May is finally over
with ! – when I realized that June is going to be just as busy . Only difference is that MCW  will not
be doing all of the show hosting . At least we can kind of relax at a couple of events and enjoy the
happenings and let someone else do the work !
One note on a club member – Pat Cox ( Vern’s wife ) has been in the hospital almost a full month
now . She originally had what was to be a relatively minor operation , but started having all kinds of
problems . It was really touch and go for a while , but ( and say those prayers ) it looks like she will
get sprung soon . She will still have to go to a rehab facility for a while to get back up to par , but at
least get out of the hospital !!  Not too soon either as the women Vern has been running around
town with aren’t near as nice as Miss Pat . By the way Pat , I have pictures if you need them .
May  Shows : Lots of good shows in May !! Po Boys at Lynn Smith Chevy started the month out with
a bang and the month never slowed down . Matter of  fact , Lynn Smith had 2 good shows in May .
There was one there on Memorial Day that , as it was the “ only game in town “ , it drew an over flow
crowd of cars . The FREE burgers and dogs didn’t hurt either ! The Cruisers show at Sabor
Restaurant was very good . Nice place for a show with good food and cold A C to get in to . The
Cruise-In at Uptown Village Mall is starting to take shape with Matt’s Mexican Food bringing out a
nacho bar now . Starting in June they also will have drinks ! MCW had a great show at Vandergriff
Honda in Arlington that was a huge success . The dealership people were so impressed that they
already have stated they will have us back in the next couple of months for a night time show !!!
Vandergriff furnished around $400.00 in door prizes at this May show and are talking about bigger
and better for the next one !!!  Now all we need to do is talk them out of a car . Now wouldn’t that be
cool ??!!
Up-coming  shows : Check out the enclosed calendar for all the shows , but I will expound on a
couple here . The Po Boys annual show in Grandview is coming up on the 14th . This is always a
good show that draws around  100 plus cars and benefits the local Volunteer Fire Dept. Also there
is a very good café on the South/West end of town that serves some very fine home cooking . This
show is over at 4 , so you can still make the Cruisers show at Sabor in Duncanville as it is a 4 til 8
show . The Third Saturday of the Month Cruise-in at Uptown Village Mall in Cedar Hill will be the
21st from 4 til 8 . The mall keeps filling up with new store openings almost daily . Maui Wowi has
opened and are serving drinks . Razzoo’s should be up and going in late July , so lots happening
there !!  On  Saturday the 28th , MCW will be hosting a show in Getzendaner Park in Waxahachie
from 11 til 3 . This show is being sponsored by the Waxahachie Daily Light and their patrons . The
proceeds will go to a needy Ellis County family that will be chosen by a “ board “ from the paper .
This will be a family that is NOT on welfare and also not receiving a lot of government help , but one
that is struggling to support their family due to illness or some other tragedy . This is not going to
be just a car and bike show , but a family event . There are lots of things in the works to make this a
huge event . There WILL be food with the Optimist and Lions Club food trailers , plus Laura
Megonigal will also be serving some things the others do not . This will make for a wide variety of
food choices . All in all , it should be a big day all around .
MCW  Cruise-in : Unfortunately , those of you that get this in the mail will not receive it in time for the
first MCW Cruise-in at Whataburger . Starting in June we will do a cruise-in at Whataburger in town
from 6 til  probably 9 or so on the first Friday of the month . Whataburger has given us the West
parking lot and use of electricity . This is NOT a club members only event . Friends , neighbors ,
spectators , wives , kids , girl friends and  Mopars are all welcome . We will even take Corvairs !
This is just a  gearhead get to gather for everyone .
Other  Cruise-Ins  : The Shakers and Scrapers have a  new Cruise Night location: 2217 W 7th
Avenue - Corsicana, Tx Held each 2nd Friday of the month from March to October6:30pm to 10:
00pm The youth at the church will have their concession stand setup and we will be able tohave
barbecue sandwiches, sausage on a stick, and Dr Peppers. All concession sales benefit The
church Youth group. Also new weekly cruise-in location in Arlington . This has moved from
McDonalds to the Albertsons on Little Road at I-20 . Time is 6 til 10 . Good location with great
spectator traffic plus 7 plus different eateries within a block of the parking lot . This event
sponsored and hosted by Classical Gas Motors of Mansfield .
Club  Meeting :  Most of you forget the club meeting ? First Thursday night at 7 of every month ? .
Now does it ring a bell ? TOO LATE – IT IS OVER . Now you will have to wonder if I remember
everything that was decided . I may not tell you everything just for the fun of it . You DID miss
Strawberry Covered Angel Food Cake by Natalie and Miss Corrinne’s Great punch !!!  So eat your
heart out !!  Actually the only club decision was to keep $200.00 out of the deposit from this
weekends show for the  club cash box . In the past it has always been a scramble to have change
when a show starts. This way change will be ready way before show time .
Questions : I have 2 for you . First – A frequent participant of our shows has requested a little help
on Sunday the 15th  which is Fathers Day . His name is Gregg Herring and he is a member of a
church in S Arlington just off 360 and a little North of 287 . They are asking for a few cars to come
and display for 4  hours ( 8:30 til 12:30 ) and will furnish drinks . They also will give you a coupon
good for lunch at Chicken Reds in Mansfield just for displaying your car . Attending the service is
NOT required . If you are interested , please call me or Alan and let us know . We will set up a
meeting place and can caravan their together .

Second question – MCW has a phone committee . Some of you are always saying “ I wish I had
known you were going to do that so I could have gone “ when you hear of us going to some event
as a cruise . Would you like to know these things ? Well that is easy – just let us know and we will
get you on the list . Some times they call each week if we are doing something together and we
would be more than happy to have each and every one of you come along , and you DO NOT have
to be a club member to do so . In the 5 years we have been together , there has never been a
members only function . That is NOT the way we work !!!!!
Ending : Well that does it for this month . Don’t forget to print out ( if e-mailed ) or keep ( if USPS )
the enclosed calendar . Hopefully I haven’t missed anything
HAPPY  TRAILS  TO  YOU  AND  TO  EACH  GOOD  CRUISING !!!  MAY  GOD  BLESS !!!!!!!!!!!!
